Encouraging Social Interaction
At Emerald, we not only want to provide an outstanding service to our clients, but we also try to give something back to the community. We do this with the initiatives that we run, which are aimed to benefit residents of the social housing community.
In 2009, we ran our In to Business competition which offered the winners £10,000 worth of equipment, material and consultancy support. The competition was open to all residents of social housing within the UK.
The winners of the competition were Jean Wilson and Sallie Wyatt, whose business idea 'New Hope' was to provide childcare provision for disabled children during both term time and holidays. The Emerald team, along with Worcester Community Housing are providing support for the winners as New Hope is being set up. For more information and to keep up to date with New Hope, please see the In to Business tab.
2010 has seen the birth of a new initiative. 'A Taste of Our Community' is aimed at bringing together the social housing community, with food as the underlying theme. We are looking for favourite recipes from residents of social housing, along with the story behind it. Our hope is that by sharing these recipes people will not only open themselves up to other cuisines, but also to other cultures. To find out more about the 'A Taste of Our Community' initiative, please see the A Taste of Our Community tab.
