The world of social housing provides a great example of the complexity of digital services and our approach. At Emerald we understand that for many in social housing, today's online presence needs to satisfy many objectives:
And today's website visitor in social housing expects their landlord's site to meet or exceed their experience from their wider internet use. The site needs to be simple, clear and effective, whatever their reason for visiting, whatever device they are using - and it's more often than not going to be a mobile device.
And their individual needs should be met - from their level of computer literacy, to their individual circumstances such as Dyslexia or accessibility requirements.
Our approach to the social housing sector is the same as any other sector. We work to understand the needs of both the organisation and the end user - the website visitor.
We work to understand what factors will be used to measure the effectiveness of the finished project - will it be channel shift; increased visitor numbers, simpler method of updating and managing social media, or any mixture of other measures?
We work with the client to understand interfaces to back office and third party solutions - such as housing management systems, payment providers, or online direct debit provision. Where available we utilise existing APIs, and where none are available we write our own.
